Batwoman is back and lesbian

After decades of absence, Batwoman is back! To the delight of comic fans Batwoman is back in the comic scene. The DC universe is updating and Batwoman is now a lesbian socialite during night and crime fighter later at night. Straight and gay people read comics and now comics are including the diversity in society within the super hero universe. A spokesman for the lesbian and gay pressure group Stonewall said: “I think anything that promotes diversity is a very good thing and we welcome the introduction of characters like this.” Great update in mainstream comics, before this latest trend in comics, gay heroes were only to be found in small independent comic publishing houses. Moving forward and diversifying.

Earthquakes Vs. BreakUps, the last time

Since I last posted “Tsunami vs. BreakUps” I’ve learned that my ex girlfriend is coming across the sea to visit me. This has been the one and only thing on my mind. It’s got me very worried.
Since I last posted “Tsunami vs. BreakUps” I’ve also learned of the earthquake in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Upon learning this: shock, horror, sympathy, and an infinite amount of self-loathing. Sadly, I’ve stayed true to my original promise and have remained on my couch. What’s worse yet, I’ve somehow managed to make this about myself. Beyond disgusting.
Here’s my new promise: i will be giving to a charity and I will shut the fuck up about my ex girlfriend. I am asking all the other disgusting, heart broken assholes out there to do the same. This is reality.
5,400 lives have been taken thus far.
For those interested in furthering your disgust…

Political party for paedophiles

To me, this sounds like a joke. A group of Dutch paedophiles are launching a political party to legalise sex with children from 12 years old instead of the legal age of 16, the possession of child pornography and animal sex.
No doubt, the country is known for its liberal stance regarding drugs, prostitution and homosexuality, but to invade the sacred space of childhood is unthinkable. When I was 12, I was probably still giggling with my friends about boys and shying away from them, instead of thinking about sex with older men.
How dare the paedophiles. What do you think?

A spectre is haunting Canada

There are a lot of loose, mostly false generalizations made about Canadians. We’re very friendly, we say “aboot” instead of about, the land is covered by trees, something about pancakes and beavers… Maybe all these weak generalizations have prompted us to follow in the Americans footsteps. Maybe our lack of a strong national identity has forced us to compete with America’s overbearing patriotic personality. Recently Canada has tried its hand at bad action movies, cheesy reality tv and now, taking a much more drastic leap, fear mongering and racial prejudice.
Canada’s spy service is warning the nation of homegrown terrorists- the youths with immigrant backgrounds.

Fool finds and returns winning lottery ticket

Every morning I sift through the headlines and articles of dozens of newspapers and blogs. And I’ve read about some ridiculous news in my time. But nothing like I read today:
“An Army sergeant and his girlfriend found a winning lottery ticket at a convenience store Monday and turned it in to police, who were able to find its owner — a $2,500 winner with no idea her lucky ticket was missing.”
And this happened in Bay Shore, New York!
Now that I’m thinking about it. I’m not sure this qualifies as ridiculous. It’s just plain stupid.
Everyone knows you take the money and run!
Sergeant Edward Boniberger, if I can address you directly, you’re a damn fool.
A damn fool.

Sexual abstinence before marriage?

Personally, I believe that in this day and age, the probability of finding a virgin at marriage is extremely low. With the ubiquitous pop culture that promotes liberty, sex and enjoyment, the youth of today have been indoctrinated. Now, according to a new Harvard research, it seems that virginity pledges made by teen-agers tend to wear off within a year.
As for the decrease in teenage pregnancies and abortions, it is definitely attributed to a more effective use of contraception. What are the conversatives thinking? Even the pop icon Britney Speares, who was formerly an advocate of sex only after marriage, gave into temptation

We want it free and irrepressible

Irrepressible.info is the new Amnesty International campaign that focuses on governments using the net to suppress dissent.
Internet is probably the most important place where, at the moment, this speech happens. Therefore it’s also the place where the freedom of speech can be opposed.
Banned blogs, controlled chatlines, forbidden websites: all these actions are important issues to protest.
The whole campaign is going to revolve around the website where subscribers can give any kind of support to the actions are going to be made, for instance it’s possible to send e-mails to Chinese authorities in order to get two persons, incriminated for blogging and writing politically incorrect emails, out of jail.
