Islam… the postmodern claim to fame!

by safeeyah on January 30, 2009 at 6:56 pm

fame.jpgNewspapers and media have failed in capitalizing on the commercial value of that endlessly curious subject: Islam.

With the amount of content the holders of popular opinion dedicate to Islam you’d think they would each have a regular section in their publications attributed solely to the polemic enigma. Read more

Button-pushing MacGyvers

by safeeyah on January 21, 2009 at 10:31 am

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Roll over finger-fast text messaging Generation x, the calculator generation is not done just yet and it’s a whopping 263 people strong. UK police will soon carry portable fingerprinting devices with them everywhere. Experts say the current processing time of an arrest, which takes one hour on average, could be reduced to mere minutes with the use of this new technology. Faster arrests means cops are back on the beat faster which ideally makes us all safer. It’s great that the system is more efficient, but do we really need to spend tax money on more “Big Brother”-style technology? No one wants their fingerprints saved forever for driving 10 kilometers over the limit.

2515968684_4161ebe223_m.jpgHow long does it take until your bike, or parts of your bike for that matter, is stolen? How safe is your neighborhood?  Mariano Pasik is using cheap bicycles as bait; with hidden cameras, he has set to gauge crime in the different neighbhoods of Buenos Aires- his home city. His theory is that the longer it takes for the bike to be stolen, the safer the area.
