Roll over finger-fast text messaging Generation x, the calculator generation is not done just yet and it’s a whopping 263 people strong. Die hard Casio and Sharp fans rivaled it out at the 12th quick calculator calculation contest. Unlike the text messaging generation x, the calculator generation is so much more hospitable. Old people, males and females, kids and parents all crunched away for the position of the fastest calculating button pusher. I wonder though, does that make the winner a number-crunching, calculator-hiding Magnum or MacGyver?

The Prints Don’t Lie

UK police will soon carry portable fingerprinting devices with them everywhere. Experts say the current processing time of an arrest, which takes one hour on average, could be reduced to mere minutes with the use of this new technology. Faster arrests means cops are back on the beat faster which ideally makes us all safer. It’s great that the system is more efficient, but do we really need to spend tax money on more “Big Brother”-style technology? No one wants their fingerprints saved forever for driving 10 kilometers over the limit.

Mariano Pasik is using cheap bicycles as bait; with hidden cameras, he has set to gauge crime in the different neighbhoods of Buenos Aires- his home city. His theory is that the longer it takes for the bike to be stolen, the safer the area.
