Getting to the wrong country?

When you are about to board an airplane, don’t you daydream with the idea of accidentally taking the wrong flight and ending up in a recondite place quite far away from your original destination? It happens to me in almost every flight I take, but soon I realize that, with all the security and checking points I have to go through, that situation will be pretty much impossible.

Impossible? That is what a family willing to spend a relaxing holiday in a Spanish island also believed until they were told, after landing, a quite unexpected “welcome to Turkey”.

The family supposed to be flying into Arrecife, Lanzarote, but instead they found themselves in Bodrum airport, Turkey where they even had to pay a US$20 visa charge per person.

But then, with all the modern and ’secure’ airport rules, how could this happen? Easy: they were issued the wrong boarding passes by a ground handling worker.

So next time we flight, lets make sure we are in the right airplane, even though, those daydreams about landing into the unexpected sound somehow, pretty exciting.
