Mississippi bill to ban serving obese people

As a solution for health related problems (like cardiac, breathing and movement ones) obese people have now been excluded by restaurants!
This is not fiction: it’s the clever bill - known as HB 282 - to fight obesity issue in Mississippi State, Usa.
Obesity experts are outraged by the bill: “It would be hard to concoct something more ridiculous”, says Kelly Brownell, director of Yale University’s Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity.
The bill was proposed by Mississippi State Representative John Read of Gautier, along with two more authors Ted Mayhall (R-Southaven) and Bobby Shows (D-Ellisville). Read said that he had not expected it to pass as a law, but had just meant to shed a little light on one of the bigger food-related problem in Mississippi.
Ok, the “health and food” issue is a serious problem, but are these legislators fighting to get rid of soft drinks in schools? Are they working to stop the relentless marketing of unhealthy foods to children? Are they doing anything about the fact that poor people do not have access to healthy foods? No, they are not. That’s a huge civil rights violation and a five steps backward idea that increases obese people alienation! I will ask these gentlemen: “Can you imagine your overweight son going to the restaurant with his skinny friends and not to be allowed to eat?”.
According to this bill, the state’s Health Department and the Mississippi’s Council on Obesity should decide over the weight criteria, and after that should supply the list of criteria to the restaurants so that they know which people they should not serve.
Are waiters supposed to carry scales around the restaurant and weigh every customer? Will waitresses soon be expected to make sure we eat all our veggies?
