From Hollywood to Oslo? So it would seem for Al Gore, who, fresh from his triumph at the Oscars, has also been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in view of his work of behalf of climate change awareness. Should, next 10th December, the ex-candidate for the White House receive the prize from King Karl Gustav XVI, he would not be the first to get it for work on behalf of the environment.
Three years ago the deputy minister for the environment in Kenya Wangari Muta Maathai received it in recognition of her intense re-forestation campaign in Africa.
But the Nobel isn’t the only prize. There are many awards specifically concerning the protection of the environment and the planet.
