UNEP Sasakawa Prize is the award jointly launched twenty years ago by the UN and the eponymous Japanese foundation in order to support, also financially, with 200,000 dollars, good ideas regarding particular environmental problems defined from year to year in harmony with the ecological agenda of the UN. Climate change is the theme of the 2007 edition.
The prestigious award of the WWF is not money but a medal, nestling in a rosewood box made from a sustainable forest, presented annually since 1970 for an exceptional contribution towards the challenge of the environment. The recipient can be a single person or a local authority, Olympic committee etc.
Green awards are not unknown in the glossy world of advertising. Green Awards praise those brands that, via their creative publicity campaigns, confirm the company’s commitment to sustainable development.
