The mummy pay cheque
Should governments support new moms whether they are in or out of the paid work force? Should that ‘maternity leave allowance’ be of equal amounts? Is that fair to ‘full time’ working moms? Do they choose to stay at home because they are spoiled rich wives who don’t need to work , or is it that they can’t afford nannies and day care? This debate, in which for so long I have been always interested, is currently on going in Australia. Australia and the United States of America are the only two industrialized countries that don’t require employers to offer paid maternity leave.
