Why didn’t they use FedEx?

Yeah, Telegrams. That clunky, mesozoic system that Western Union threw out in 2006. I’m resisting all ‘Don’t they have email in Russia?’ jokes, because I actually think it’s a sweet gesture. A little like a handwritten lovenote.
